Boram Um is the founder of Um Coffee Co. - a boutique specialty coffee business based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. With a background in the financial sector and management consultancy, Boram Um first got into the coffee industry working in quality control at his father’s farm. He opened his first coffee shop in 2016 and was crowned World Barista Champion in 2023.

Having been interested in culinary since he was young, Richie decided to change his career path and enroll in Le Corden Blue Arizona. While studying as a chef, he found his calling after a fateful encounter during his study, and he determines to be a chocolatier. Proving his skills, in 2017, he was awarded second place as the US Pastry Chef of The Year. After returning to Jakarta, he successfully opens his first-ever restaurant, Crio, to showcase his imposing chocolate creations.

Martin Wölfl, Managing Director of Wildkaffee 2.0, didn’t actually want to enter any more competitions after a penultimate place at the 2023 World Brewers Cup in Athens. But all those years of hard work shouldn’t just be over, so he decided that this shouldn’t be the end. He put together the perfect team to compete one last time in Chicago on April 14, 2024. Martin Wölfl has just won the World Brewers Cup 2024 in Chicago, beating 41 other talents from all over the world. Martin Wölfl’s skills and 6 innovations led him to victory, and of course, the coffee as well had its role.

He began his career in the field of pastry starting from a thirty-year old family tradition. In 2005 he entered the world of gelato and the Gelaterie Mamò brand was established from a branch of the Monaco pastry shop, which is now present in Rome with six sale points. In 2021 the mamo-lab project was inaugurated, a central laboratory that allows production for all points of sale and a demo room to be used for research, development, communication, cooking shows, gelato/pastry courses and demonstrations. Gelato and pastry teacher for Fabbri 1905 since 2021 as well as being Ambassador of Italian Gelato in the world within the Italian Gelato Artisans Association.

With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Roberto Fiorini has worked with renowned Chefs from around the world including Mauro Uliassi, Gordon Ramsay, Ferran Adria and Luis Andoni. Roberto also previously worked as a personal chef for King Salman of Saudi Arabia. Recently, Roberto Fiorini was appointed to be the chef who served food to the pope Fransiskus while in Indonesia.

Mikael Jasin is a barista who started his career working at the busiest cafe in Melbourne, Australia in 2012. Mikael Jasin of Indonesia earned the crown of World Barista Champion 2024. This was Mikael Jasin’s third year competing in the World Barista Championship, placing fourth in 2019 in Boston and then seventh in 2021 in Milan. The Indonesia Barista Champion fought his way through a field of 53 competitors over four days. Now he own his own Omakase coffee shop named Omakafe in Indonesia.

Hotel beverage manager and chief mixologist Leo Ko from Cordis Hong Kong’s resto-bar Alibi – Wine Dine Be Social, clinched awards such as World Bartender of the Year, Cocktail of the Year (Low ABV Category), and Best Sensory Skill. After three rounds of rigorous competitions, which included several preliminary rounds, semi-finals in categories like sensorial, knowledge, and speed as well as the ultimate super final round, Ko impressed the judges with his skills, mastery, and precision. His winning cocktail was inspired by Hong Kong’s iconic local drink, Yuen Yeung, a mixture of coffee and Hong Kong-style milk tea. Ko’s achievements not only spotlight Hong Kong’s bartending industry, but also marks the first time a representative from Hong Kong has won awards in the World Cocktail Championship 2023.
